Our Custom-Made Process
What is custom-made? Unlike your typical shop, where clothing is mass produced based on a fixed size chart, custom-made pieces are made to individual specifications. This means that a piece custom-made specifically for you will always fit like a glove!
Step 1: Pick out your fabric
With options from the elegant French lace to classy Shantung silk, all our materials are specially sourced and imported from trusted sources. In-season fabrics change from year to year, so there’s always something new at our shop! We also carry special in-house fabric, available only at Zion Creation and nowhere else.
Suitability of fabric depends on your skin tone, the location of the event (wouldn’t want to wear an evening gown to a beach party!), and your own personal preference.
Step 2: Decide on the cut of your dress
Boat neck? Cheongsam collar? Queen-Anne collar? Mermaid-cut, A-line, asymmetrical skirt?
Your body shape plays a huge part in what is considered a ‘flattering cut’. Our 30 years of experience in the fashion industry has seen us working with women with all types of body shapes, including plus-sized women and ladies with physical disabilities. Gone are the days of ill-fitting clothing – opting for a custom-made piece means that each element of your piece (from the collar type to skirt length) is designed to suit your body perfectly.
Our in-house made-to-stock collection carries sizes from XS up to 5XL.
Step 3: Production commences
Our Creative Director and founder, Lorraine, personally oversees the drawing of the pattern and the completion of your dress. Most custom-made orders require a lead time of 3-6 months, although for those who need it urgently, we do offer express services with an extra cost. We’ve made a piece from scratch in 3 days!
Step 4: Come for your fitting
Upon the completion of your dress, we will invite you to drop by our Taiseng Atelier to try your piece. This is where you’ll see if any final alterations need to be made.
Step 5: Collect your dress & enjoy your event
Making a custom-made piece is an investment for yourself. At Zion Creation, we hope to empower every lady with our lovingly crafted dresses.
